Wrench Monkey Pro · road resources
Everything in one place.
Enforcement dates, the rules themselves, weather, diesel, parking, tires and scales. Every one of these is a live page that keeps itself current — nothing here is copied out and left to go stale.
Seventy-two links across seven sections.
The rules, from the people who write them
Straight to the source.
All federal government pages. Free, no account, and current by the time you open them.
- Is relief in effect where you're at
- FMCSA emergency declarations — hours-of-service relief in effect right now, by region. This one moves close to daily.
- Hours of service
- The hours-of-service hub, which also lists the paid pilot programs a small operator can join. The plain summary table is the one to keep open.
- Is your ELD still legal
- The registered device list and the revoked list. Cheap to check, expensive to miss — a revoked device gives you a deadline to replace it.
- The regulation itself
- 49 CFR Chapter III on eCFR — the binding text, always current. And FMCSA's own guidance for how they read their own rules.
- Your numbers
- SAFER company snapshot for a free carrier lookup, and the Safety Measurement System for BASIC scores and inspection history. SMS updates monthly on a published schedule.
- What's coming
- Notices and rulemaking for what's changing and when. The Federal Register FMCSA page carries every document the day it publishes, and it has a subscribe button. The Unified Agenda is the forward calendar — what they plan to do, twice a year.
- Getting told instead of checking
- FMCSA email alerts. Push instead of going and looking.
- If you're running your own authority
- The Motor Carrier Safety Planner is the best free federal walkthrough for a small carrier, and the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse for the public side of that.
Enforcement weeks
Know which week you're rolling into.
CVSA runs these and announces the dates ahead of time. The dates and the links are public. Their out-of-service criteria handbook is a paid product of theirs, so it gets a link and nothing more.
- The one page to watch
- The CVSA news archive. Everything lands here first, including years of results that never made it onto the older results pages.
- The three weeks
- International Roadcheck, the seventy-two hour blitz, dates usually out in February — and its focus areas. Brake Safety Week. Operation Safe Driver Week.
- What they actually found
- Roadcheck results go back to 2017. For the Safe Driver Week numbers, use the news archive — the results page there stops at 2023 and the later years only went out as news releases.
- Plain-English digest
- Regulatory and legislative updates, roughly every two weeks.
- Out-of-service criteria
- The criteria page. A new edition takes effect every April 1. It's a book they sell, not a free download.
Weather and roads
What's between you and the receiver.
- The one almost nobody knows about
- Transportation decision support — highway weather segment by segment, with wind, snow and ice thresholds you set yourself. Eighteen western states. It's the closest thing the Weather Service has to a trucker tool.
- Alerts
- Active watches, warnings and advisories, nationwide and live.
- A few days out
- National forecast maps, for planning a route rather than reacting to one.
- State 511
- Every state's 511 number and road conditions site on one page. Worth knowing: that table itself says it was last updated in February 2023, so a link inside it may have moved.
Diesel
The number your surcharge is built on.
- The national and regional average
- EIA weekly on-highway diesel. Posts Monday afternoons, history back to 1994. If you keep one link off this whole page, keep this one.
- Both fuels, and the data feed
- Gasoline and diesel on one page, and the data index if you'd rather have it pushed to you — RSS, email, or a free feed.
- Posted prices by store
- Pilot's posted diesel and DEF, store by store, with a download.
- Why it costs what it costs
- EIA's plain-language explainer.
Truck stops and service
Where you already stop.
Straight to each chain's own pages. Call numbers and hours live on their sites, where they stay right — we're not copying them over here to go stale.
- Love's
- Locations and fuel prices · truck care and Speedco · roadside assistance · commercial tires · rewards · promotions · Speedco FAQ
- TA and Petro
- Locations · TA Truck Service · RoadSquad · gated parking · national tire account · driver rewards · deals Reserve-It moved — the old address now bounces to the location finder, so use the locations link.
- Pilot and Flying J
- Locations · fuel prices · truck care, which is Southern Tire Mart · reserved parking · pro rewards · Southern Tire Mart's own page
Parking
Before you're out of hours looking for a spot.
- Start here
- Trucks Park Here routes you to every state feed and every app carrying the data. Real-time availability across eight states, free.
- State systems
- Wisconsin TPIMS — 553 stalls across 12 rest areas, and it says plainly that the system counts spaces, it doesn't hold one for you. Kentucky TPIMS covers 14 lots on I‑65, I‑71 and I‑75. OHGO in Ohio adds incidents and cameras.
- Crowd-sourced and paid
- Trucker Path is the biggest crowd-sourced source. Truck Parking Club is paid overnight and drop-lot parking outside the truck-stop system.
- The federal layer
- FHWA truck parking, including free map files of public truck parking by state.
Tires, roadside and scales
The call you make from the shoulder.
- Tire networks
- Michelin ONCall and its dealer locator · Goodyear Fleet HQ roadside and locations · Bridgestone emergency roadside and dealers
- The one built for a small operator
- Continental TrukFix has an explicit path for a small operator — eligibility includes OOIDA membership. The rest of these are built around fleets.
- Finding somebody near you
- TruckDown and 4RoadService. Both are free to search. What gets paid for is a shop's listing, which is also why coverage is uneven — a shop that doesn't pay may not show up.
- Scales
- CAT Scale locator · Weigh My Truck · Drivewyze, whose safety alerts are free even though the bypass itself isn't.
- Your association
- OOIDA and its discounts, most of which are member-only and the page says so.
